Jiu Jitsu Takedowns: Overhook Control Setup For Tani Otoshi (1 of 5)

The overhook control is one of the most powerful controls in all of grappling arts and MMA. The overhook is used as a control grip to takedown your opponent or as a defense against your opponent trying to take you down – for example the “whizzer” in wrestling against a single leg takedown.

In remaining series we are going over the Tani Otoshi or Valley Drop takedown. We are just going over a setup that is similar to the 2 on 1 Russian in this clip.
The Tani Otoshi is a very effective side sacrifice throw that you can either set up by getting your opponent’s back or as a counter when they go for a throw on you.
